This is the kind of topic that the Romans talked about just before their empire fell.
ex.
"Hey Martino, do ya eat ya the grapes with youa weight on the left elbow or on youa girlafrindas back? hey martino, which is it...?
Bwaaaaaaaahahahaaa."
------------------------------
Anyway, since I'm not qualified to give an opinion because I don't do either, here goes anyway.
Pot smokers tend to create an inner world that in many instances revolves around their pot smoking.
The afternoon pot session was popular among some I knew when I was in college.
Usually the pot dosages increase over time to reach the desired feeling. Pot smokers inevitably search each other out, probably because there is strength in numbers and it's an opportunity to "test" other brands of pot to see if your contact is giving you the shaft. Meaning they hook on good stuff, then begin diluting or selling you crappier stuff.
----------------------------
While I would agree that the overuse of alchohol is just as bad as regular use of marijuana, the drinker who can actually stop after one or two glasses of wine, once a day, is by far in a league of their own.
Studies actually show that a mild amount of wine, especially the red wines made from the darker grapes are actually good for your heart.
The biggest problem with the overuse of alcohol or marijuana is the person who drives a vehicle while under the influence. That is why we "police" against the abuse of alcohol and the use of marijuana.
The banks just can't tolerate the loss of their property before it's paid for.

LMMFAO!!!!!!!

board who has EVER smoked marijuana???
or the only person brave enough to admit it??
its weed, for christ's sake! not baby killing!
now... on to alex's post....
while i appreciate your honesty and humble
disclaimer, you knew i was going to comment on
some of your statements, alex.

this is a reference to a tainted observance.
most of the introverted behaviors associated
with using marijuana are a direct result of it
being illegal. think back to prohibition...

this is incorrect (at least, in my experience).
i don't recall having to up from 1 joint to
5 an hour just to get the same effect.
as you stated, sure there may be different 'brands',
but you do not alter your intake simply because
you have built a 'tolerance' to your 'brand'.
thats absurd.

again, bravo for the propaganda.
did you not read my first post at all?
considering i'm the only person discussing
marijuana because i've USED it, i think i'm
inclined to know exactly what the effects are.
thank you! come again!

You twisted a couple of my points around. I said nothing about brands. I simply said that differnt people have different "suppliers".
So associating with other pot smokers allows a "user" to compare their supply with others.
And my very last line summed everything up. The Banks are worried that pot smokers may either destroy their own newer car before it's paid for, or take their junker and destroy someone else's new car.
As for drinking, a DUI will cost the driver between $15,000 to $30,000 for the 7 years following a DUI. One way or another, it's about how to most effectively put money back into the corportocracy called America.
Big business is not as confident in marijuana's ability to do that the way alcohol does.

i didn't twist anything.
re-read your own words.

a friend of mine smokes some weed, most of his flatmates do that too, and they do not do it to see how much their supply differs, seeing how they grow their own, but besides that, as far as i have observed they do it as a social gesture, just like with me and alcohol.
But i also knew one guy who used to use pot.. well.. daily. Meaning he was running around stoned every day, dropping him out of school, and turning him into the vaguest person ever. But then again, if you'd be drunk every day for several years, i'd love to see your brain.
With everything it's simple, too much is just bad, but if you choose to smoke weed once, what's the big problem? The only reason i haven't done it is because i still am somewhat afraid, that i might like it too much and that it might mess up my life, which is a risk i don't want to take yet.

shatzy, i have come with the help you desired:
i smoked some marijuana a couple of weeks ago. (and zela, it had been nearly three years since the last time i had done it, so there is no need to worry about it ruining your life )
i used to be like most of the people here, talking about the evils of it without actually experiencing it--quick aside: does anyone know of a person that has done any drug (without becoming a "junkie") that speaks out against it?--but after doing it, i didn't see any harm in it. i wanted to do it again, but it did not become a desire that i could not control. to be honest, something that i found to be more addictive was sucking the gas out of whipped cream cans. that shit was good! but back to the topic at hand:

this seems to be a typical complaint against all drugs--you just sit around doing nothing, wasting your life. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU DO WITH YOUR TIME THAT IS ANY BETTER? watch tv? play on the internet? play video games? watch a movie? go to church? go to work? read books? what would you consider to be a worth-while activity?

Being Creative. Creating rather than merely consuming.
-
do i hear an echo?
In what way is nagging on a message board considered creative?
-
agreed. agreed. agreed.
while i find it a typical and romantic response,
i highly doubt there is ANYTHING a person can
do that ISN'T considered 'consuming'....
secondly, i highly doubt that one can maintain
a level of 'creativity' to where its all they
do... as opposed to falling into the down-wind
of 'consumation'.
it seems alex is offering a paradox in a sense.
in other words: one cannot be creative if one
is consuming and vice versa.
this simply cannot be true.
how does one justify eating?
pumping gas?
taking a bath/shower?
turning on a light?
reading?
collecting a pay check?

going back to what gnosis said:
i used weed every day of my life for several
years. i had no problem stopping when i decided
it was time to do so... and when i stopped,
i stopped. there were no binge periods where
i was climbing the walls for a sack... or a hit.
it was very easy to quit.
i also think that if some of the people on
this thread have or would ever TRY it...
they'd come back and read their words and
chuckle at how silly it all is.
i realize there is a lot of fear going into
what you've heard/seen your whole life...
you are programmed to fear it.
going with what zela said:
i know that there are some that allow marijuana
(or anything for that matter) to control their
lives to the point that they are (in essence)
withdrawn or closed from other social circumstances.
but, as i think zela would agree, it is their
choice to do so. there is a great self-reflection
associated with performing an action that
is derrived solely from your conscious choice.
many people would not understand that.
as much as i admire zela (and not just in the
SAY NO kinda way...) i know that what he is
thinking could become a problem for
someone else.
personally, i feel experience takes precedence
over heresay and rhetoric. =)
